BLOGGER QUILT FESTIVAL - SPRING 2009

1st online Quilt Festival that I am joining into. Amy is the gal that has come up with this idea.

It was not hard for me to pick out my favorite quilt that I have made.

I made two of baby quilts, one for my Great Nephew and one for my Great Niece. They were born just a few months apart. I made them both alike except one is pink and one was blue.

I embroidered 9 blocks with Baby Animals with a pastel variegated thread, and quilted only around each block. I used a cute flannel print for the backing and attached a label. If you click on each photo you can see a close up and see more of the detail.

I have been shoveling snow the last two days. I could hardly get out of bed today. I have my Birthday Pineapple Upside down Cake in the oven and Hawaiian Bread in the Bread Machine. The house smells sooooooo good.

What wonderful packages I have received from my Stitchers Angel
Partner. I'm not sure who she is there was no name on the card. All I do know is she is from Australia. Photo #1 Is a little bag with Blue Birds and a Fat 1/4 of fabric with the cutest Koala bear Bears. Photo #2 and #3 There's a little Button Bag with 3 little buttons in it - Map of Australia, Kangaroo, and a Koala bear Bear. Also a Tread and Needle Keeper.

Drove up to Hannibal, MO today. Rained most of the 2 hour drive, I was not a happy camper:( But when we got there the Sun came out :).

Had lunch and then went to the Hickory Stick Quilt Shop. Spent to much money, had to stop, but did get some yummy fabric. Then we walked down to the Ice Cream Shop :9

Matryushka Doll Fabric and Bag

Look what I found on Esty.com. I just love these little Matryushka Dolls are Russian Nesting Doll.

The bag will be just the right size for my stitching on the go, the zip bag I can use for my thread and scissor. The little black bag is for a cell phone or camera. And a passport cover.

I have not decided what I will do with the Fabric. The pieces are only half or quarter yards and pricey, so I will have to think very carefully.

I have been making yo yos to use as embellishments. On the snowmen fabric ones I used a pom pom on one and I snowflake button on the other. I don't know what I will use on the candy cane fabric ones, still looking.

Yo Yo Sample Board

Here is a Photo of my sample boards. I had to do a little work on them. The Rounds, Hearts and the Flowers were made with Clover yo yo makers. Easter Eggs I made a Pattern for them. Hexagon was from Moda Charm set they included a template and instructions. Diamond was a pattern from Hancock Fabrics.
The weather so nice today that I have been outside making yo yos. I really like Clover's Makers, it makes it easy for me because of my RA hands.
Going to a Craft Fair tomorrow in St. Charles. I'll try to post photos on Monday.

Yo Yos

Going to be HOT today, over 100. They have heat warnings out.

There was nothing on TV last night, so I pulled out one of my old DVDs
Paint your Wagon with Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin. ( It still is a good movie)
I was making some yo yos while watching the movie. My fabric with the sparkles will not work for yo yos. The sparkles get in the way of my stitches and when I pull them up together.
I found my sample board for making different kinds of yo yos. I made the sample board when I gave a class on making them. Will try to post photo later.....

I don't usually do BOM but this one from Cinderberry Stitches. Truly Scrumptious, I just fell in love with. Also a shop here in USA is offering the BOM. So I called ThimbleCreek in CA to find out how t0 sign up and the price. Yesterday I received the first block with fabric, thread, and instructions. I got out my light box and traced the pattern last night.

I hope to start stitching today. I am really looking forward to doing this one.

Teatime Embroidery Club

Old Quilts

These's are 2 Quilt Tops from my Grandmother and Great Grandmother.

What a day

Went to the Post Office to send off 2 pincushions for swaps. The one I had to bring back home to repack it. Box was too small, didn't have enough room for their paper work. It's going overseas. Now I have to go back to the Post Office tomorrow.

Spent a few hours cleaning out the spare room. At onetime it was my work room, now it has been a catch all.......

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. Mine started on Thursday with the Redwork Club I belong to. I did a Patriotic Program, made Red, White & Blue Cupcakes and gave one of these pincushions I make as a give away.

FRIDAY: Had a BBQ, went to the outdoor concert and fireworks at our Civic Center.

SAT: Spent most of the day outside, the weather was so nice.

SUNDAY: Went to the movies to see Wall-E.

I'm going to start the BBQ around 2pm. We plan to go to the Civic Center around 7pm for the music and fireworks. It looks like we will have a nice cool night for a change.

I thought I would have all my PCs finished today but did not make it. To many phone calls. Then UPS came with my GPS another toy to play with. I was trying to set it up, but I'm doing something wrong. It comes with very little instructions. You have to go to their website for the manual. I'll try again tomorrow.

Please bare with me this is my first time at blogging. My name is Janie, live in Missouri. I love doing crafts, always have. I had a ceramic shop a few years ago. Now I am into embroidery, beading, penny rugs and do some quilting.

I belong to a Redwork Club and a Teatime Embroidery Club at a LQS, we have a lot of fun.

I have 2 younger sisters, a niece & nephew and new great niece and nephew.
